Daylight Savings Time: Help Your Child Easily “Spring Forward”

Spring Forward - Daylight Saving Time Made Simple

I love this time of year.

It’s when the snow begins to melt, the flowers begin the bloom and the sun stays up a bit longer.

We can finally put on our favorite Spring outfits (yes, I love my Easter dresses), eat yummy barbecue and FINALLY have some fun outdoors.

However with all the fun March brings, when we “spring forward” I gets tons of calls from my clients wanting my tips to keep their child’s sleep schedule intact.

Let’s be honest.  No one enjoys losing an hour of sleep.  It takes our bodies awhile to adjust and I don’t know about you but I can be a little grumpy during the change.

The good news is the beginning of daylight savings time doesn’t have to be a struggle.  You can transition your child easily to our new time and keep them sleeping through the night.  With the 3 simple steps below, you’ll have your little one sleeping like a champ in no time. More

How To Help Your Newborn Take Longer Naps

Newborn Catnaps

Today’s question is from tired mama Yvonne and she writes:

“My newborn takes crappy naps. She will wake up (like clockwork) right about 30 minutes needing us to soothe her back to sleep with rocking or a paci. I have tried countless times to try to put her to bed drowsy (but awake), but it never works.  We spend on average 1 – 1.5 hrs trying to get our newborn to sleep only to have her wake up 30 minutes later (almost 60-70% of the time) and start the whole marathon of trying to get her back to sleep again. Could it be that 6 weeks is just too soon for her to figure out how to go to sleep without our help?”

So if your baby will only take 30 minute catnaps (maybe 45 on a good day), stay tuned because today’s blog post is for you.  I’ll share 3 easy tips that will have you newborn taking longer naps in no time.

Getting your child to sleep through the night is no easy feat. You’ve researched websites or maybe even worked with me and you’ve FINALLY got your little one sleeping through the night.  Whoo hoo!

You begin to sweat dreading the impeding changes to your restful night’s sleep.  You remember your pre-kid days when you would celebrate that extra hour of sleep.  Now it just seems like Mother Nature is taunting you.  More

Slapped in face.
And at some point during the night your little one managed to sprawl herself over the entire bed and now you’re clutching the edge of the mattress for dear life.
Well if that’s your reality,  I created today’s video just for you.

Over on Facebook, I asked my tribe what questions they had about getting their babies and toddlers sleeping through the night.  The response was overwhelming and I picked 3 of their questions to answer for you in today’s video. More

Screw You Summer (aka Summer Baby Sleep Tips)

Screw You Summer aka Summer Baby Sleep Tips

Look, I love me some summer.  Nothing makes me happier than jumping in the pool on a hot summer day, listening to the jams and enjoying some BBQ with friends.  BUT…

When you’ve got a little one who already doesn’t sleep through the night, it can feel like Summer is playing an evil trick on you.

The sun comes up at the butt crack of O dark 30 and then has the nerve to stay up past 8 pm.  What gives?

And let’s not even talk about if you’re traveling to another time zone.  Forget it!  Your baby’s schedule will be all screwed up.

Oh and don’t even get me started on fireworks!  I’m all for celebrating my Independence but at 2 in the morning, it’s time for everyone to go night, night. SERIOUSLY!

But the good news is, there’s hope. More

This is so humbling…

This tired mama’s question is probably one you can relate to and goes a lil’ something like this:
